English 1 – A foundation course where basics in writing and grammar are reinforced and expanded. Areas addressed in this course will be correct grammar usage and development of various styles of writing.
English 2 – The course emphasizes American literature. Elements of research are applied. The course also introduces poetry, humanities studies and film analysis. Expository essay writing is developed from what was taught in English 1.
English 3 – The course will provide a survey of world and cultural literature, mostly from the contemporary period. The study of the novel is introduced. Non-fiction reading, essay development and media analysis are also major components of this course.
