Welcome to Indoor/Outdoor Maintenance!

Learn More About Service Occupations:  Indoor/Outdoor Maintenance

Indoor maintenance workers keep offices, schools, colleges, hospitals, and other public buildings clean and in good condition. Students will be trained to learn such skills as identifying cleaning equipment, chemicals, and supplies. These workers clean office areas, kitchens, locker rooms, cafeterias, and

outdoor areas.

Outdoor maintenance workers are trained in using mowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers.  They will have hands-on training and skill preparation for positions in the areas of landscaping and groundskeepers.

All students will learn skills necessary to clean and maintain hard floors and carpeted areas. Students will learn to use a variety of hand tools and power equipment such as floor scrubbers, polishers, and burnishers. The objective of the student is to be certified as a janitor/cleaner or maid and housekeeping cleaners.

*Starting the week of May 17th our class will be participating in a project called the Bed Bug Gardens for the Northern Lehigh Slate Trail. The students will be using their landscaping skills to clear the area and help build landscaping beds to install plant materials and trees. A permission slip will be sent home May 12, 2010. The availability of the vans and the daily weather will determine when we can go to the work site. At some point the people in charge would like to have our students on Channel 13 and 39 news programs. If you have a concern about your students being videotaped or on television please call or e-mail your requests. I will try to update our calendar to help inform you of when we will be going to the work site on a weekly basis. Also check back to see photos of the project and the students working on their landscaping skills.
