Learn More About Precision Machine Tool Technology 1

This is an instructional program that prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills in all aspects of manufacturing metal parts.  Instruction involves making computations relating to work dimensions, tooling and feeds and speeds of machining.  Emphasis is placed upon the operation of lathes, power saws, milling machines, grinders, drills and computerized machines (CNC).  Instruction also includes the use of precision measuring instruments such as layout tools, micrometers and gauges, methods of machining, blueprint reading, and the layout of machine parts.  Instruction prepares students to operate all types of manual and computer controlled machines.

In this nationally certified program accredited by the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS), you are exposed to blueprints, lathes, milling machines, CAD/CAM programming and much more. In fact, this program is designed to prepare you for additional education should you choose to move on to become part of a team in management, quality control or design.

Lehigh Career & Technical Institute instructors will help you work toward continuing your education at Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) to earn an associate degree, as well as a national skills certificate. Our instructors also help prepare you for Level 1 NIMScertification. Students are required to take written and practical exams.
