TRAIN FOR A CAREER AS A HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY
 
COURSE GOALS 
 
To provide students with the basic skills and knowledge to safely operate heavy equipment and to gain entry-level employment in the Construction Related Industry.

 This "INTENSE HANDS ON" course will cover safety, basic operating procedures and techniques and maintenance for Backhoes, Articulated Haulers, Hydraulic Excavators, Track Loaders, Articulated Wheel Loaders, Skid Steer, Soil Compactors and Bulldozers. Here at LCTI we have 15 pieces of heavy equipment for you to receive training with. We have constructed a large training site that has been developed to enhance your operating skills. While attending LCTI 's Heavy Equipment Operations Training Program you will also receive training on a few other topics that will include; basic surveying, construction math, print reading, erosion and sediment control, soil analysis, OSHA trenching safety, load and securement standards for the safe transporting & hauling of equipment. Assignments and tests, along with numerous operating competencies will be given throughout the course to help instructors and potential employers evaluate the students progress. A skills certificate and competency report will be presented to students who successfully completes the program. 10 hrs of OSHA 500 Construction Safety Training will be conducted and successful students will receive a card from OSHA for the completion of this training.For more information about industry support and some of the class activities download a course brochure.

Program Specifications:

  • 130 hours of hands-on practical
  • 50 hours of classroom theory
  • 180 total hours  
  • 6 weeks necessary for completion of weekday classes 
  • 7 weeks necessary for completion of evening and Saturday classes
  • Tuition fee: $5,395.00 plus a $100.00 non-refundable application fee
  • Program is WIB approved-can accept Career Link, TAA/TRA, OVR and VA/GI funding

  • For those that work during the day or have a limited time to train, evening classes are availabile on an open enrollment.(START AT YOUR CONVENIENCE) Monday - Wednesday 5pm-9pm, Thursdays 5pm-10pm, and Saturdays 8am-4:30pm. LCTI can likely work around your schedule in the evening program,
  • Open House is held the last Wednesday of each month. The next Open House is scheduled for Wednesday, March 31, 2010 from 6:00PM - 8:00PM. By attending an Open House you can discuss your options and your future personally with our Lead Instructor, Dave Fidler.

  • DUMP TRUCK OPERATION TRAINING ( 90 hrs) Receive your CDL class B License and receive additional DUMP TRUCK OPERATION TRAINING.Train on three different types of dump bodied haul units.  {dump}                                                                                              
  • Do you currently have a clean Motor Vehicle Record, possess a valid CDL class "A" or "B" license and hold a current DOT Medical Examiners Certificate? If so then you can extend your career opportunities by learning DUMP TRUCK OPERATIONS ( 50 hrs) and train on three (3) different types of dump bodied haul units.
