Important message about distance learning tools, exams

Please know that Lehigh Career & Technical Institute is working with partner school districts on how best to serve our students during the coronavirus epidemic. As we continue to put health and safety first, we wanted to provide parents and students with the latest information about distance learning options, standardized testing and educational tools like this essay writing service reddit.

Distance learning requirements

In regard to coursework, rest assured that students are not expected to learn new material while LCTI is closed. We understand that web-based distance learning tools are not accessible for all students.

If students were using Google Classroom or Schoology in their courses prior to this break, they will continue to have access to those platforms and are welcome to complete any of their assignments. We encourage students to work on any outstanding material for the third marking period, so they’ll be ready to move forward when school resumes.

Flexible curriculum

For students intent on staying sharp while schools are closed, LCTI developed a flexible curriculum that provides them with opportunities to hone their academic and professional skills.

Using the online platform, Schoology, students will be guided through lessons that focus on professionalism, digital citizenship and literacy while employing virtual field trips and other engaging teaching vehicles. Students also will be directed toward Khan Academy, Newslea and other vetted resources that foster learning through practice and independent exploration.

LCTI’s flexible curriculum content will be updated regularly, so students should check the platform often. All posted assignments are voluntary, not mandatory. Students will not receive grades for completed assignments. Here are instructions for accessing the flexible curriculum.

State extends testing window

NOCTI exams were underway at LCTI when the school closures were announced. The Pennsylvania Department of Education has extended the testing window, so students may be able complete written and performance portions of their exams when classes resume. However, that will be highly dependent on the date students return to school.

LCTI’s staff is in continuous discussions with school leaders in the Lehigh Valley and at the state level. We will continue to provide updates as we get them. Thanks for your time and stay safe!
