ALLENTOWN, Pa. | Ten Lehigh Career & Technical Institute students spent Sunday (Sept. 11) sharing their love of engineering at the Lehigh Valley Festival of Art, Science & Technology.

A biennial event organized by Da Vinci Science Center and Make Lehigh Valley, Lehigh Valley FAST is a daylong celebration designed to inspire people with art and raise awareness about careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

LCTI was among more than 50 exhibitors at the festival, which drew nearly 4,250 visitors to the PPL Center.

Our Pre-Engineering & Engineering Technology students fanned out into the crowd with remote-controlled robots they built in class, often handing over the controls to curious youngsters. The students also brought along a miniature steam engine, a toy train and other gadgets they designed and then produced with a 3D printer.

Our Electromechanical/Mechatronics Technology students, meanwhile, manned a miniature assembly line they programmed in class. The automated manufacturing cell mesmerized both children and their parents, proving to be a big hit at the festival.
