Senior Recognition Night canceled

Unfortunately, due to Pennsylvania school closures prompted by the coronavirus pandemic, Lehigh Career & Technical Institute’s Senior Recognition Night has been canceled. Again, LCTI’s Senior Recognition Night, scheduled Thursday, May 28 at PPL Center in Allentown, has been canceled.

Fortunately, LCTI staff is committed to celebrating the Class of 2020. We’re working on a plan to recognize our seniors’ many accomplishments in a way that’s fun, exciting and safe for all participants. Visit lcti.org and check your email frequently in the coming weeks for more detailed information about how LCTI will celebrate the Class of 2020.

All about Senior Recognition Night

Each May, Lehigh Career & Technical Institute celebrates the accomplishments of its graduating class during Senior Recognition Night at PPL Center in Allentown.

All of our seniors receive certificates of achievement for work completed in their career and technical education programs. Select seniors also receive program and schoolwide awards.

In addition to certificate presentations, the ceremony features student speakers, remarks from state and local officials and the debut of a video featuring seniors reflecting on their LCTI experience. Check out last year’s video.

What is it?

Senior Recognition Night is a celebration of the Class of 2020 and its members’ accomplishments.

When is it?

Senior Recognition Night is at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 28. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Where is it?

Senior Recognition Night is held at PPL Center, 701 Hamilton St., Allentown, Pa., 18101.

Who’s invited?

Graduating seniors from LCTI’s sending high schools and their guests — family members, friends, etc.

Are tickets required?

Seniors’ guests need tickets for the ceremony. Seniors and LCTI staff do not need tickets, but should wear their IDs.

Are tickets free?

Yes. Lehigh Career & Technical Institute does not charge guests for Senior Recognition Night tickets.

How do I get tickets?

Tickets will be distributed to seniors by LCTI staff at school beginning Monday, May 4, 2020.

How many tickets can I have?

Each senior can have a maximum of 10 tickets. Extra tickets may be available upon request.

Senior Recognition Night attire & arrival

Student attire

Senior Recognition Night is a semiformal event. Seniors dressed inappropriately will not be permitted to participate in the ceremony. Please, no hats, no sweatshirts, no T-shirts, no crop tops, no shorts, no jeans, no excessively baggy pants and no flip flops.

Student arrival

Seniors should enter PPL Center at the Air Products Gate and report to their program teacher in the staging area no later than 6 p.m. Students are strongly encouraged to arrive when doors open at 5:30 p.m. The Air Products Gate is at Seventh and Linden streets.

Guest arrival

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Guests may enter PPL Center via LVHN Gate at Eighth and Hamilton streets, Northwest Gate at Eighth and Linden streets or WFMZ Gate at Seventh and Hamilton streets, which is best for guests who require accessible seating.

Staff arrival

LCTI staff slated to participate in the ceremony should enter PPL Center at the Air Products Gate and report to the staging area no later than 5:30 p.m., which is when doors open. Staff are strongly encouraged to arrive at 5 p.m. The Air Products Gate is at Seventh and Linden streets. 

Parking options

Parking in the Linden Street deck that’s attached to PPL Center is $3 cash up front. On-street parking is available, too. Allentown’s parking meters accept cash and credit cards. For more parking options, visit the PPL Center website.
