Student Services Newsletter: Resume prep, references, more

Summer is the perfect time to make some extra money and gain some extra work experience. Why not take all of those great skills you earned this year and put them to good use? Career Link is just one place you can look for summer employment opportunities. You may also find volunteer opportunities or internships that will make you more attractive to future employers.

Aside from an up-to-date resume, what do I need to launch a successful summer job search?

Remember! When looking for work opportunities, it’s best to have an updated resume, a cover letter that specifically mentions why you would be right for the job, at least three people willing to be professional references, and in some cases, a portfolio to show off your best work examples. If you want resume help, you’ll need some good resume examples to start with.

If you land that interview, remember that to leave a good impression, it’s important to research the company before the interview, have some of your own questions planned, maintain good eye contact and offer a professional handshake, and follow up with a thank-you letter.

Where can I find helpful job search tips online?

What are the registration deadlines for the next round of ACTs?
