Who are you and what’s your role at LCTI?

My name is Mr. Brandmeir and I’m a Welding Technology teacher at Lehigh Career & Technical Institute.

What’s your educational background?

I have a variety of industry credentials,  including Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), Certified Welding Educator (CWE) and Certified Welder in D1.1 (vertical up).

I also have my Vocational Instructional II Certification through Temple University and have taken Kutztown University business management and accounting courses.

What’s your professional background?

I’ve worked in the structural steel fabrication and erection field of welding for over 15 years. When I’m not teaching, I continue to work in the industry, serving as a CWI for various companies and welding miscellaneous structures (stairs, rails and one-off productions). I am proficient in many welding processes and testing techniques.

What’s your claim to fame?

My biggest accomplishment in the welding field is obtaining my CWI/CWE credentials. Second to that accomplishment is being able to drive around the Lehigh Valley and surrounding areas while pointing out all the buildings and projects I have worked on. I have worked in schools, hospitals, car dealerships and various other places of business.

What do you love about working at LCTI?

Working with the students and seeing them pick up welding and push themselves to be successful is one of the greatest rewards of teaching.
