BETHLEHEM, Pa. | Teams from three of Lehigh Career & Technical Institute’s sending school districts won top prizes Wednesday night during the What’s So Cool About Manufacturing? Video Contest Awards ceremony at SteelStacks.
That means Lehigh County schools won one-third of all the awards presented at the culmination of a contest that drew the participation of 30 teams from 25 middle schools in five counties.
The annual video contest is a Dream It Do It PA initiative designed to change people’s attitudes about manufacturing careers by exposing youngsters to manufacturing environments. Manufacturers Resource Center, a Dream It Do It PA sponsor, organized the contest and hosted the ceremony.
Northern Lehigh’s team won the Outstanding Videography Award for their video about Atlas Machining and Welding. Watch the contest entry:

There were nine award categories and each of the winning teams took home a trophy created by LCTI’s Precision Machine Tool Technology students. All of the video contest entrants — roughly 175 eighth-graders — received participation medals, which were made by LCTI students, as well.
Commercial Baking students from LCTI and other Lehigh Valley career and technical high schools prepared desserts that were served at a reception following the awards ceremony.
