LCTI mourns passing of longtime administrator Grace Loeffler

Ms. Loeffler

Dear LCTI Community,

It is with great sadness that we inform you about the death of our Lehigh Career & Technical Institute colleague, Grace Loeffler. Ms. Loeffler, who was slated to retire in July, served as LCTI’s director of academic and special programs for nine years and in several other vital roles during her nearly 28-year tenure at the school. She died today from a recent illness.

Ms. Loeffler was a tremendous advocate for career and technical education who always looked for opportunities to put students on pathways to success. She began her professional life as a registered nurse and later transitioned to teaching. Ms. Loeffler joined LCTI’s staff as a Health Occupations/Health-Related Technology teacher in 1993 and was promoted to supervisor of career and technical education in 2001.

She continued her ascent in 2009 when she was named Career Academy principal and in 2012 when she became director of academic and special programs. Over the years and especially in her final position at LCTI, Ms. Loeffler interacted with and offered support to countless students, families, educators and administrators. We know her passion for education changed lives across the Lehigh Valley and that grief over her passing will be widespread.

Everyone will react differently to news of Ms. Loeffler’s death and that’s OK. Our school counselors are available to provide support for students and staff. If your student is struggling to cope with this or another loss, please don’t hesitate to contact LCTI’s Student Services office at 610-799-1366.

It’s important that we respect the privacy of Ms. Loeffler’s family at this difficult time, but we know you’ll join us in sending our sympathy to her loved ones. Thank you for keeping them in your thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,

Dr. Tim Rushton
