East Penn Manufacturing representatives met with LCTI students this week to discuss cooperative education opportunities.

SCHNECKSVILLE, Pa. — Representatives from East Penn Manufacturing visited Lehigh Career & Technical Institute this week to discuss the company’s cooperative education opportunities with students.

The battery manufacturer routinely hires students from LCTI’s manufacturing-linked programs to fill co-op positions. School to Career Coordinator Stephanie Barto said. Often, those positions lead to full-time employment after students complete high school or college.

According to Barto, East Penn currently employs alumni from the Automated Industrial Technology, Diesel Medium & Heavy Truck Technology, Electronics Technology and Welding Technology programs. All of them first went to work for the company through LCTI’s co-op program.

“This partnership highlights the value of work-based learning in providing students with meaningful industry experience and establishing pathways to successful careers,” Barto said

East Penn’s Valerie Rutherford and Adriana Cadavid met with high school juniors and seniors from all of the school’s manufacturing-linked programs Thursday (Oct. 22). They shared information about potential career pathways and answered questions.
