Jeremyah Arroyo is presented with the CTSO Leadership Award at Senior Recognition Night 2025.
ALLENTOWN, Pa. — A career and technical service organization, or CTSO, is a co-curricular club where students develop leadership skills and test their technical prowess through competitive events.
This year’s CTSO Leadership Award winner is Jeremyah Arroyo, a Louis E. Dieruff High School senior in our Health & Medical Sciences program. The 18-year-old Allentown resident is a member of HOSA, one of seven CTSOs at LCTI. HOSA empowers future health professionals, encouraging them to become leaders in the global health community through education, collaboration, and experience.
Kathie Murray, LCTI’s director of curriculum and instruction, honored Jeremyah on Thursday (May 29, 2025) at PPL Center during the school’s Class of 2025 Senior Recognition Night. The prestigious, schoolwide award was one of five presented at the ceremony. Dr. Michaelina Greenawalt, a Health & Medical Sciences teacher and HOSA advisor, nominated him for the honor.
Jeremyah joined HOSA as a ninth grader and competed in the team event, Medical Innovation, at HOSA states as a sophomore. That same year, he attended the organization’s international conference in Dallas. As a junior, Jeremyah ran for a seat on PENN HOSA Executive Council and won. In his role as council secretary, he mentors local chapter officers across the commonwealth.
Through LCTI’s cooperative education program, Jeremyah works as a personal care assistant in a St. Luke’s University Health-Network hospital emergency department. He’s taking emergency medical technician classes to jumpstart his career in medicine and has already earned first aid and basic life support certifications.
Jeremyah is an active member of Dieruff’s Student Council and National Honor Society chapter. He runs track and plays soccer for the Huskies, in addition to volunteering for Special Olympics. After graduation, he plans to attend Temple University with help from a PENN HOSA Foundation merit scholarship. His ultimate goal is to attend medical school and pursue a specialty in plastic surgery.
Best of luck at Temple and in your bright future, Jeremyah!
