Cosmetology alumna returns to LCTI for demo

Alumna Jessica DeJesus visited LCTI Oct. 9 to share her knowledge and skill with current students.

SCHNECKSVILLE, Pa. — Sixteen years ago, Jessica DeJesus was a Cosmetology student at Lehigh Career & Technical Institute with a vision for her future. Today, the LCTI and Catasauqua High School alumna is the proud owner of Mirror Beauty Studio, a thriving Lehigh Valley salon.

DeJesus specializes in custom color and K-tip extensions. On Friday (Oct. 9), she returned to LCTI for a skills demonstration with current Cosmetology students and to share advice on launching a lasting career in the beauty industry.

Joined by Ryan Blackburn, the head stylist at her salon, DeJesus walked students through a high-impact highlights demo. The Class of 2010 member also talked about her LCTI experience and how participating in the school’s cooperative education program set her up for success.

Blackburn, who studied Cosmetology at Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical School, echoed DeJesus, saying that going out on co-op proved to be a game changer for him, as well. DeJesus, whose Instagram accounts have nearly 12,000 followers, discussed with students how she uses social media to grow her reputation and generate new business.

Congratulations on all your success, Jessica, and thank you for sharing your expertise with our students!
