LCTI seniors eligible for LCCC ‘Promise Scholarship’

SCHNECKSVILLE, Pa. | The Lehigh Carbon Community College Board of Trustees on Thursday (April 13, 2023) approved a new scholarship program for Lehigh County high school graduates.

The Promise Scholarship Program assists recent high school graduates from the county’s school districts: Allentown, Catasauqua, East Penn, Parkland, Northern Lehigh, Northwestern Lehigh, Salisbury, Southern Lehigh, and Whitehall-Coplay. LCTI seniors are eligible as long as they reside in one of the nine districts.

Graduating seniors must complete the LCCC application no later than May 1 in order to be eligible for the scholarship. Seniors should complete their applications as soon as possible because the scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis until funding set aside for students slated to matriculate in Fall 2023 is exhausted.

The first cohort of students will be funded with $100,000 of the scholarship principal for two years (four semesters). LCCC will use annual investment earnings on the fund calculated on or before April 15 to support the scholarship in future years.

The scholarship covers up to full-time tuition and fees, less Federal Pell Grant funding, plus a $500 per semester books and supplies allowance for Federal Pell Grant recipients. Scholarships cover fall and spring semesters only; summer or winter terms are not funded.

The Fall 2023 Scholarship recipients will be notified by June 15.
