LCTI students compete at DECA event, 28 qualify for states

Twenty-eight LCTI students qualified for state competition by performing well at the Pennsylvania DECA District 7 Conference.

SCHNECKSVILLE, Pa. | Thanks to a strong showing Tuesday (Dec. 11, 2018) at the district competition, 28 students from Lehigh Career & Technical Institute’s DECA chapter are heading to the state contest next year. The Pennsylvania DECA Career Development Conference is scheduled Feb. 20-22 in Hershey.

More than 350 students from 12 schools participated in the Pennsylvania DECA District 7 Conference hosted by Lehigh Carbon Community College. The competition was followed by an awards ceremony and fashion show at LCTI.

Carbon Career & Technical Institute, Career Institute of Technology, East Stroudsburg High School, Easton Area High School, Freedom High School, Liberty High School, Monroe Career & Technical Institute, Moravian Academy, Schuylkill Technology Center, West Side Career & Technology Center and Wilkes-Barre Area Career & Technical Center were the other participating schools.

Students from LCTI’s Advertising Design/Commercial Art, Auto Technology, Criminal Justice, Marketing & Business Education and Supply Chain Management & Logistics Technology programs competed at the conference.
