Lehigh Career & Technical Institute to conduct intruder drills

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are proud to serve the students of the Lehigh Career and Technical Institute. We continually strive to provide a safe and secure learning environment for all students and staff in our school buildings.

In order to maintain a safe environment for your children to study and learn, it is necessary that we practice our emergency and crisis response plans by conducting drills that exercise our procedures to better prepare staff and students. Our goal is to conduct our drills in the most authentic and realistic manner possible.

We conduct various emergency/evacuation drills each month.  Depending on the specific threat/emergency, there are a few basic response drills that we will be practicing throughout the school year – Fire, Severe Weather, Earthquake, Active Intruder (A.L.I.C.E.), and Lockdown.

In accordance with recent state legislation, we will be conducting a security drill in the form of an Intruder/A.L.I.C.E. with all students and staff members. This is scheduled to take place on April 16, 8:35 AM and 12:45 pm. The goal of this exercise will be to practice our emergency management procedures. Our School Police Officer and Crisis Team will be observing our procedures and making recommendations to improve our security drill practices.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Director of Career and Technical Education, Mr. Kurt Adam at your convenience.

Sincerely,
