News that Lehigh Career & Technical Institute Executive Director Sandra Himes is retiring and Thomas “Tim” Rushton is slated to replace her has been grabbing headlines in recent weeks.
Rushton, now LCTI’s director of career and technical education, will take over the role of executive director Oct. 5. The LCTI Joint Operating Committee approved his appointment in late August.

LCTI’s House Project 32 also has been in the news. Also at their August meeting, the JOC agreed to sell the student-built home for $360,000, or about $10,000 more than the listed price. A lehighvalleylive.com post about the property included a photo gallery of the house.
LCTI students Brian Romig and Conroy Yearde’s strong showing in the Pennsylvania State Ford AAA Student Auto Skills competition earned the pair a write-up in the Parkland Press. Led by instructor Richard Sikora, the pair notched a second-place finish in a field of 10 teams.
Romig also was mentioned in a separate article for his gold-medal-winning performance in the automotive technology field at the SkillsUSA Pennsylvania Championship this summer in Hershey. In addition, Mason Rumble won a gold medal in welding and Gavin Mengel won a silver medal in CNC machining.
