OREFIELD, Pa. — Two Lehigh Career & Technical Institute students completed a prestigious Pennsylvania State Police training camp this month, each earning a coveted certificate for their efforts.

Whitehall High School junior Aliyah Martinez and Geneva Orth, a home-schooled senior, spent June 7-12 at state police Troop M’s Camp Cadet. The challenging, weeklong youth police academy is hosted annually at Camp Fowler.

The girls — both of whom are Criminal Justice students at LCTI — were among 71 cadets who muscled through intensive physical fitness tests, plus a variety of drills and tactical activities. Geneva’s performance proved to be exceptional, and she was named the Female Camp Honor Graduate, said George Hummel, her Criminal Justice teacher.

“This is an incredibly prestigious award, and as a result of her outstanding performance, Ms. Orth has earned a spot at next year’s Pennsylvania State Police Honors Camp, which will be held at Messiah College,” he said.

Way to go, Aliyah and Geneva! This is how we achieve! #weachieve
