Combination Logistics CDL


The Forklift Safety Training Program features the latest technology and will prepare students with the skills needed to start a career in the logistics industry. Students have the opportunity to train in a state-of-the-art, 17,000-square-foot working distribution center, offering live material handling/logistics work experience. During the 24-hour hands-on program, students work with various equipment that meets current industry standards.


Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to:

  1. Operate a forklift safely and skillfully
  2. Properly inspect and maintain a forklift
  3. Demonstrate load balance and forklift stability
  4. Demonstrate basic knowledge and skills associated with battery, LPG and diesel power sources
  5. Apply safety practices needed in the logistics industry


  • ANSI approved safety toe footwear


The course will cover the following topics:

  1. Forklift Basics (safety, types of forklifts, forklifts vs. automobile, balance, center of gravity, stability triangle, line of action, and forklift combos)
  2. Inspecting your forklift
  3. Picking up a load
  4. Traveling with a load
  5. Placing a load
  6. Parking a forklift
  7. Working in a truck, trailer, or railcar
  8. Charging and refueling
  9. Maintenance and modifications
  10. Specialized units and attachments

July 23 – August 3, 2024

Class Schedule: Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM and Saturdays 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM
