Congratulations to schoolwide award winner Luna Castrillon Cano!

ALLENTOWN, Pa. | The Outstanding Career & Technical Education Senior Award is Lehigh Career & Technical Institute’s most prestigious accolade. Students selected to receive it are the best of the best at LCTI.

One of this year’s two Outstanding Career & Technical Education Senior Award winners is Luna Castrillon Cano, a Louis E. Dieruff High School student in the Dental Technology program. Director of Career & Technical Education Darin Van Norman honored Luna on Wednesday (May 31, 2023) at PPL Center during the school’s Class of 2023 Senior Recognition Night. 

During her four years in the program, Luna has become a team player who leads by example. Her teacher, Eva Galus, says, “she’s always there for her classmates, providing support and motivation.”

Luna’s a proud member of HOSA and a past competitor. This year, the 18-year-old Allentown resident focused on maximizing her opportunities in LCTI’s cooperative education program and it paid dividends.

As a dental assistant for Dr. Sandip Ladani, she’s been named employee of the month not once, but twice. Impressed by her drive and focus, Dr. Ladani makes a point of asking her to assist with complicated and uncommon dental procedures.

Luna is also a member of the National Honor Society and the Hispanic Alliance Club at Dieruff. She’s slated to begin the pre-dental program at Temple University this fall. Thanks, in part to her experiences at LCTI, Luna’s off to a great start on the path to her dream career: oral surgeon.
