Education secretary visits LCTI for CTE Month

Pennsylvania Secretary of Education Carrie Rowe speaks with Precision Machine Tool Technology teacher Aaron Schock.

SCHNECKSVILLE, Pa.Pennsylvania Secretary of Education Carrie Rowe helped Lehigh Career & Technical Institute punctuate Career & Technical Education Month with an exclamation point! She spent Thursday morning at LCTI, participating in a school tour joined by Lehigh Valley legislators, school directors, and superintendents.

At each tour stop, students talked with Rowe about their technical programs, the opportunities available to them via LCTI and where they see themselves after high school. School officials pointed out how state funding had enhanced the educational experiences of every student Rowe encountered, whether it was used to expand program offerings, remodel classrooms or purchase new equipment.

Officers from two of LCTI’s career and technical student organizations — Isabella Quintero and Brandon Scott — led the tour, which featured stops in eight classrooms. Quintero, an Early Childhood Education student from Parkland High School, is a SkillsUSA president and Scott, a Computer Information Technology student from William Allen High School, is a FBLA president.
