Program Safety & Physical Considerations

  • High degree of self-discipline and focus needed for safety around moving equipment, hand tools, power tools, and other equipment found in the industry
  • Physical strength and stamina with the ability to lift 50 pounds with heavy lifting and pushing/pulling, and the ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Must have stamina including focus at work station for long periods of time (standing or sitting for long periods of time)
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to safely work with various chemicals used in the industry

Reading & Language Arts Levels

  • College Prep Reading and Language Arts
  • 10th – 11th grade reading level (text and manuals)
  • Oral and written communication skills

Math Level

  • Basic math level
  • Grade level math
  • Ability to compute proper settings for equipment and correct dimensioning for projects and deliverability
  • Ability to estimate size, distances, and quantities; and determining time, costs, resources, and materials needed to perform work activities
  • Measuring skills
  • Manipulation of fractions, decimals, and ability to use percentages and proportions

End of Year – 12th Grade Assessment Test

Industry Certifications

  • Students will have the opportunity to earn industry certifications in the program

Program Requirements & Related Costs

  • Uniform:  Shirt – $ 20              

Cooperative Education

  • Students who meet all the requirements, including teacher recommendation, grades, attendance, and discipline record
  • Students must provide their own transportation to and from the job site
