Lehigh Career & Technical Institute’s Future Educators and Teacher Education programs are the centerpiece of a front-page Sunday story in this week’s Morning Call.
Reporter Daniel Patrick Sheehan and photographer April Gamiz visited LCTI on Sept. 9 to visit with instructor Kathy Khanuja and her students about their experience.
Students chatted with Sheehan about what motivated them to enroll at LCTI and how the school’s programs are preparing them for careers in the classroom. Khanuja discussed how the programs may offset a teacher shortage in the Keystone State. The number of educators certified annually has fallen from 20,000 to fewer than 7,000 since 2010, according to the Pennsylvania State Education Association.
