Paint the Plow entry gets honorable mention

LCTI participated in PennDOT’s 2025 Paint the Plow program.

Lehigh Career & Technical Institute’s Paint the Plow entry received an honorable mention in the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s annual safety outreach contest.

Paint the Plow is an initiative that highlights safe winter driving while showcasing the artistic talents of students across the commonwealth. Students paint snowplow blades with original artwork reflecting a theme selected by PennDOT. This year’s theme was “Don’t race. Allow some space.”

The theme inspired Advertising Design/Commercial Art students to dream up a forest blanketed by snow and divided by a winding road. Auto Collision Repair Technology students made their dream a reality by applying the design to a PennDOT-provided plow.

Members of the public were invited to vote for their favorite plow from 15 area schools that entered in this year’s District 5 regional contest. According to PennDOT, Pleasant Valley High School received 1,318 votes to earn the “Fan Favorite” honor; LCTI received an honorable mention in the category.

The “Judges’ Pick” award was presented to Pocono Mountain High School of Monroe County, selected by a panel of PennDOT representatives. Their design stood out for its creativity and connection to the winter safety message.
