Tucker Jayne, left, and Michael Evans, center, are competing at Project MFG nationals in May 2026.
Two students from Lehigh Career & Technical Institute’s welding program will each vie for $10,000 at Project MFG championships this spring.
Michael Evans, a Parkland High School senior who studies Welding Technology at LCTI, is one of only 24 competitors to earn a berth at the National Welding League championship in May. The 18-year-old was among more than 400 welders from 154 schools who contended for an opportunity to test their skills at the event.
Tucker Jayne, 18, qualified to compete at the May Maritime Welding national championship with a second-place performance on April 17 at Project MFG’s Philly Shipyard contest. Jayne is a Southern Lehigh High School senior who, like Evans, studies Welding Technology at LCTI.
