Advertising Design student art award for portfolio

Lehigh Career & Technical Institute student Anne Langan was honored Sunday (Feb. 25, 2024) for her outstanding work during the region’s Scholastic Art & Writing Awards ceremony at Kutztown University.

Langan, an Allentown Central Catholic High School senior in the Advertising Design/Commercial Art program at LCTI, won a Gold Key for her portfolio submission. Comprised of six mixed media pieces displayed at Kutztown’s Miller Gallery, the portfolio showcased her exceptional talent. Advertising Design teacher Nicole DiVincenzo joined Langan for the ceremony.

Students awarded Gold Keys at the regional level go on to compete with their peers across the country, with top winners receiving an exhibition in New York City and a ceremony at Carnegie Hall.

Founded in 1923, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards is the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious recognition program for creative teens. The East Central Pennsylvania art region drew 662 submissions of artwork from 396 students at 74 schools in Berks, Carbon, Lehigh and Northampton counties.

This is Langan’s first Gold Key but her second trip to the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards ceremony. She received an Honorable Mention last year for her “Green Beetle” painting.
