SCHNECKSVILLE, Pa. — Lehigh Career & Technical Institute’s student organizations teamed up to collect a literal ton of food in November.
Students, staff, and other community members donated a total of 1,797 items that weighed in at a whopping 2,025 pounds during the holiday food drive spearheaded by LCTI’s career and technical student organizations. Guided by their teacher Vicki Lynch, Supply Chain Management & Logistics Technology students sorted, counted and weighed the haul, which will benefit Allentown Area Ecumenical Food Bank.
To encourage donations, the student organizations offered pizza parties, ice cream parties and cupcakes as prizes for the technical programs whose students collected the most food. The top collectors were Dental Technology in first place, followed by Marketing & Entrepreneurship in second place and Veterinary Technology in third place.
The school’s student organizations include DECA, Educators Rising, FBLA, FCCLA, FFA, HOSA, National Technical Honor Society and SkillsUSA, as well as the Academic Center Student Council.
We’re thankful to everyone who donated food for the holiday drive and proud of our students for stepping up to serve their community.
This is how we serve! #weserve
