Seven LCTI students join National Technical Honor Society

National Technical Honor Society Induction Ceremony December 2017SCHNECKSVILLE, Pa. | Seven students were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society during a ceremony Thursday (Dec. 14, 2017) at Lehigh Career & Technical Institute.

The inductees’ family members, staff from LCTI and students’ sending high schools were among several dozen people on hand for the special event.

The inductees are:

Membership in the NTHS is highly competitive; students must maintain a grade average of 90 percent or better to be considered for induction. Less than a third of students nominated for induction this winter made the cut. Other current members of the society include William Allen High School students Jesulto Acance and Paula Galarza, Northwestern Lehigh High School student Danielle Schmidt, Parkland High School student Jade Buskirk and Whitehall High School students Kayla Martnick and Frederid Tirado Cardona.

LCTI Director of Career & Technical Education Kurt Adam said the society’s newest inductees represent the best of the best at LCTI and their sending high schools. Katie Walter, SkillsUSA Council executive council, served as the event’s guest speaker.

Also Thursday, a member of the LCTI’s Drafting/Computer-Aided Design Occupational Advisory Council, Rodger Gilbert, became an honorary member of the society. Gilbert is the senior manager of operations at Newton Engineering in Lower Macungie Township.

Web Design/Web Programming instructor Joseph Peregrin and CAP Office Systems Technology instructor Ann Blacker advise LCTI’s National Technical Honor Society.
