Three LCTI students finish first at SkillsUSA states

Three Lehigh Career & Technical Institute students are SkillsUSA state champions after standout performances this month in Hershey, Pa. They were among four LCTI competitors who earned trips to the medal podium April 8-10 with top-three finishes at the annual SkillsUSA Pennsylvania Leadership & Skills Conference.

Jestina Narvaez, a Southern Lehigh High School senior who studies Print Technology/Graphic Imaging at LCTI, won first place in the Graphic Communications contest.

Colin Macaulay, a Northwestern Lehigh High School senior who studies Heavy Equipment Operations & Preventive Maintenance at LCTI, won first place in the Heavy Equipment contest.

Dominic Farzetta, an adult education student at LCTI, won first place in the postsecondary Heavy Equipment contest. The 18-year-old is a recent high school graduate and Souderton-area resident.

Solimar Chung, a Louis E. Dieruff High School senior in the Academic Center and Painting & Design programs at LCTI, earned second place in the Painting & Decorating contest.

Tucker Payne, a Southern Lehigh senior in the Welding Technology program at LCTI, finished in second place at the SkillsUSA state welding contest held in March.

The first-place finishers qualified to match skills with state champions from across the country June 1-5 during the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference in Atlanta, Ga.
