Signing Day celebrates future-ready LCTI students

LCTI seniors sign on the dotted line at the second annual SkillsUSA Council Signing Day ceremony.

UPPER SAUCON TWP, Pa. | Signing Day isn’t just for athletes anymore. SkillsUSA Council on Friday (May 10) hosted the second annual District 11 Signing Day at DeSales University.

More than two dozen Lehigh Career & Technical Institute seniors who plan to attend college, go to work or serve in the military after high school were recognized during the event. Students from Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical School, Career Institute of Technology, Monroe Career & Technical Institute and Upper Bucks Career & Technical School also participated in the ceremony.

LCTI Executive Director Tim Rushton and Director of Career & Technical Education Kurt Adam were on hand to announce the names of this years signees. They are:

College & Military

  • Michaela Breslin, a Culinary Arts student from Emmaus High School, is going to study culinary arts at Northampton Community College.
  • Margarita Castro, a Culinary Arts student from Parkland High School, is going to study culinary arts at NCC. She earned a scholarship.
  • Lilianna Collazo, an Auto Technology student from William Allen High School, is going to attend college, but hasn’t decided which one yet.
  • Jaron Crosson, a Print Technology/Graphic Imaging student from Whitehall High School, is going to study business administration at LCCC.
  • Genesis Feliciano, a Cosmetology student from Louis E. Dieruff High School, is going to study business at LCCC. She earned a scholarship.
  • Ryan Fink, an Auto Technology student from Northwestern Lehigh High School, is going to serve in the Army.
  • Keanne Herrera, a Masonry student from Whitehall, is going to study business at LCCC.
  • Nathan Himmelsbach, a Computer-Aided Drafting & Design student from Allen, is going to study architecture at NCC.
  • Kailee Jones, a Culinary Arts student from Emmaus, is going to study culinary arts at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
  • Zachary Klucsarits, an Pre-Engineering & Engineering Technology student from Emmaus, is going to study engineering at LCCC.
  • Jeremy Salabsky, a Print Technology/Graphic Imaging student from Whitehall, is going to study business administration at LCCC.
  • Luis Solano, an Auto Body/Collision Repair Technology student from Parkland, is going to study auto body/collision repair at Automotive Training Center. He earned a scholarship.

Workforce

  • David Brown, a Carpentry student from Emmaus, is going to work as a carpenter for Wetzel Enterprises Inc.
  • Noah Carl, a Precision Machine Tool Technology student from Emmaus, is going to work as a machinist apprentice for Precision Roll Grinders.
  • Ryan Correll, a Plumbing & Heating student from Parkland, is going to work as a plumber for the Allentown School District.
  • Matthew Derenzin Pastrana, an Electronics Technology/Nanofabrication student from Emmaus, is going to work as a technical assistant for Lutron Electronics.
  • Talen Getchell, a Precision Machine Tool Technology student from Whitehall, is going to work as a craftsperson apprentice at B. Braun Medical.
  • Kylee Goodin, a Welding Technology student from Southern Lehigh High School, is going to work as a welder/fabricator for Hart Mechanical Contractors Inc.
  • Zackary Lutz, a Plumbing & Heating student from Parkland, is going to work as a plumber apprentice for Tim Beil Plumbing.
  • Symantha Missmer, a Painting & Decorating student from Northwestern Lehigh, is going to work as a finishing technician for Grothouse.
  • Levi Nuss, a Precision Machine Tool Technology student from Parkland, is going to work as a tool and die apprentice for Lutron.
  • Matthew Parra, an Electronics Technology/Nanofabrication student from Whitehall, is going to work as a technical assistant for Lutron.
  • Jennifer Quintero-Rodriguez, an ElectronicsTechnology/Nanofabrication student from Allen, is going to work as a technical assistant for Lutron.
  • Caleb Schmeltzle, a Plumbing & Heating student from Emmaus, is going to work as a plumber apprentice for Deluxe Plumbing & Heating.
  • Wesley Shaffer, a Precision Machine Tool Technology student from Northwestern Lehigh, is going to work as a machinist.
  • Clayton Weiss, an Electromechanical/Mechatronics Technology student from Southern Lehigh, is going to work as an electrical apprentice for Yates Electrical.
