Ready to save the day? Our Emergency Health Services program helps students develop the knowledge and confidence first responders need to step up when seconds matter. As they explore a variety of health care careers, students:
- Earn CPR, first aid and AED credentials while training to be an EMT
- Practice life-saving skills with patient and ambulance simulators
- Discover how the human body works as they study anatomy and physiology
In classrooms outfitted with real medical equipment, students work toward becoming EMTs as they master skills valuable to any future health care professional. Over four years, students progress from proper hand hygiene and personal protective equipment use to mastering medical terminology and deciphering EKG readouts.
Students collaborate with other future first responders from other LCTI programs during simulated emergencies. They also have opportunities to join in field trips to Cetronia Ambulance Corps and other Lehigh Valley facilities. Helping students build strong employability skills by emphasizing clear communication, ethical practices and self-discipline is an important element of the program, as well.
