Teachers shape the future one child at a time. In our Teacher Education program, students study how teachers create healthy learning environments and effective lessons for pre-K-12 children. As they explore a variety of careers in education that require college, students:

  • Earn 20 tuition-free credits toward a bachelor’s degree and teaching certification
  • Develop lesson plans packed with fun, innovative activities
  • Lead weekly lessons in local elementary, middle and high school classrooms

Guided by their teachers, students team up to craft lesson plans based on curriculum goals. They help youngsters, including some of their high school peers, build literacy skills, tackle STEM projects and engage in socioemotional learning.

Thanks to LCTI’s partnerships with Lehigh Valley Zoo and Lehigh County Authority, students also train with educators outside traditional classrooms. They explore education career pathways through job shadows, college visits and participation in Educators Rising, SkillsUSA or other co-curricular organizations. Obtaining federal and state clearances for working with children is a program requirement.
