Carolina arrived at Lehigh Career & Technical Institute with three goals: Get a top-notch education, pursue a career in the dental field and give back to her community.
Carolina is a senior in the Dental Technology program who also takes her academic courses at LCTI. In addition to 40-plus career and technology education programs, LCTI has an Academic Center that offers traditional academic courses — English, math science, etc. — for full-day students.
Even though Carolina opted to spend her entire day at LCTI, she continues to represent the William Allen Canaries as a member of her sending high school’s sports teams.
“The focus was me helping other people; that’s one of the reasons why I’m going into a health field. I want to help my community,” Carolina says. “It’s me putting on a bright smile for them and fixing their smiles.”
Dental Technology instructor Cindy Heil, instructor describes Carolina as a focused student who does a great job of balancing career and tech ed with her academics and extracurricular activities. Plus, Carolina has already begun working in her chosen career field.
With assistance from LCTI’s School-to-Career Office, Carolina secured an internship at a local dental practice. She hopes to continue working at the practice while she pursues postsecondary education after graduation.
